About Hank Campbell

A wise man once said Darwin had the greatest idea anyone ever had. Others may prefer Newton or Archimedes.

Probably no one ever said a website was the greatest idea anyone ever had, but a website... Full Bio

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands, April 1 /PRNewswire/ -

Science 2.0/Web 2.0/Internet Media Darling/Start-Up Scientific Blogging announced today that it has agreed to acquire Scienceblogs.com, a unit of Seed Media, LLC, New York, New York.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed. Following the acquisition, Scienceblogs.com will continue to operate independently to preserve its successful brand.

The acquisition combines one of the largest and fastest growing science communities with the scienceblogs.com expertise in organizing voters for Democratic PACs. The combined companies will focus on providing a better, more comprehensive experience for readers interested in the latest science developments and also what and who they should be protesting. It will also offer new opportunities for independent science writers to distribute their work to a vast new audience.

Funding for the acquisition was provided by Exxon-Mobil Corporation, Fox News Corporation, The Discovery Institute and Hillsdale College, who will each retain a seat on the new Board of Directors.

Said Adam Bly, Seed Media CEO, "I've had few pleasures greater than sharing a meal with a fascinating executive like Hank Campbell. It started with the ideas on the table, certainly, but for me it was also the distinct cadence, the fluttering of the hands, the brush of the forehead, the coy grin that let me know I was being let in on some business secrets and stuff."

When the acquisition is complete, Scienceblogs.com will retain its distinct identity, strengthening and complementing ScientificBlogging.com's own fast-growing community, but will move operations to Kansas to be in closer touch with their core fan base. All scienceblogs.com employees will remain with the company unless they have under 300,000 pageviews per month, in which case they'll be sent back to Blogger.

"We couldn't be more thrilled than to have Scienceblogs.com as one of the crown jewels in the Scientific Blogging empire," said Hank, CEO and Publisher of ScientificBlogging.com. "I'm confident that with this partnership we'll have the flexibility and resources needed to pursue our goal of making the world of science blogging interesting for both Democrats and Republicans.

"But we're not done there. We also intend to acquire blogsci.com, scienceblog.com, sciencebase.com and more," continued Campbell, "Basically, if you have science and blog anywhere in your name, we'd like to buy you."

I'm glad someone got the humor in this.

That must have been some coy grin you gave Bly.

I was most impressed with the humor in

"...will move operations to Kansas to be in closer touch with their core fan base."

This blog piece went nowhere though. There's April Fools disbelief and then just crazy talk and I guess this crossed the line.

This blog piece went nowhere though.

It went a lot further than mine.  I spent too long trying to use some sneaky code that this site just converts to unsneaky.  In the end I had to put 'april fool' in the body text.  Ah, well, that'll teach me to try coding whilst still laughing at all the good gags today.  :)
