AMSTERDAM, June 16 /PRNewswire/ -- One month ago, Sylvie van der Vaart was diagnosed with breast cancer in the early stages. Sylvie has since undergone a successful operation. There is no evidence of the cancer having spread to anywhere else in the body. Her oncologist has assured her that she will have a complete recovery. Starting in July, Sylvie will undergo preventive chemotherapy. Sylvie and Rafael are currently on holiday. They would appreciate being able to recover from this difficult period in private. I would like to ask the press and other media to give Sylvie and her family the time and space to come to terms with this news and work on her recovery.
