LONDON, September 20 /PRNewswire/ -- In a wide ranging interview, ex-co chairman of the Scientific Assessment for the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Sir John Houghton, lays out a compelling case for global warming whilst simultaneously chiding the UK government for its lack of concerted action.

Sir John, who was also previously chairman of the Royal Commission on Environmental Pollution ('92-'98) and chief executive of the Met Office ('83-'91), once famously called man-made global warming a 'weapon of mass destruction'. In the 3,500 word interview, Sir John talks candidly about solutions to man-made global warming, raising doubts about bio-fuel from corn whilst advocating using the UK's stockpile of military plutonium for use in nuclear power stations.
