DÜSSELDORF, Germany, September 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Hybrid phones support fixed-line and Internet telephony and can therefore be connected to both ports. Customers can switch smoothly to Voice over IP. With the "C460 IP", Siemens, a pioneer of this technology, is offering the British market its first hybrid model. The VoIP provider sipgate has checked its functionality in a product test.
Easy set-up
Prerequisite for the Siemens "C460 IP's" VoIP functions is registration with a VoIP provider, for example sipgate. Through personalised set-up, sipgate simplifies often-cumbersome VoIP configuration. Clear operating guidelines show users the settings that are relevant to them and whose entry into the "C460 IP" can be carried out via the telephone or more comfortably via the web browser. The LAN port means that Siemens phone can be operated via a router independent of the PC so even with VoIP it is possible to make phone calls in familiar comfort.
Simple switch between VoIP and landline
Users decide at the push of a button whether the conversation is to take place via fixed-line or Voice over IP. Parallel VoIP and landline conversations are possible. The base station handles up to six mobile handsets that can be registered individually. Missed calls are shown via LED and are recorded in the call list. In the product test, the "C460 IP's" intuitive menu navigation was convincing in terms of allowing even lay users to become quickly familiar with the phone.
Excellent functional extras
Siemens has equipped the "C460 IP" with some additional extras. Among them are a 100-entry telephone book, a hands-free mode, a date reminder and alarm function, automatic redial as well as CLIP and call lists. In addition, you can send SMSs from your hybrid phone and manage a personalised SMS inbox. Supported by the VoIP speech codecs G.711, G.726 and G.729, the "C460 IP" offers a high speech quality during Internet telephony, even with smaller bandwidths.
Functionality in the construction method
The "C460 IP" has a 4-line colour display and an illuminated keyboard. Flexible usage is possible thanks to the separate loading station. The battery allows for up to ten hours of talk time and a standby time of up to 150 hours. The indoor range is up to 50 metres, the outdoor range up to 300 metres.
