About the Author
BJÖRN GUSTAVII became an editor of Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica for 8 years and has been teaching courses in scientific writing for doctoral (Ph.D.) students in medicine for 25 years. His book is intended for use of all the writers in biological and medical disciplines.
Things to Remember for the Scientific Language:
1. Do not include observations that depart from the main theme,p5

Prevalence
refers to the total number of cases of a disease or condition existing at a specifictime.
Incidence
refers to the number of new cases that develop over a specific time.

- Hedging is a way of saying “maybe” more than once.

I got the book (1st Edition) out of our university library this morning, and I highly recommend it. The high point for me is the Ape Identity Issue at the beginning of Chapter 23, but the two graphs in Chapter 5 of induced abortion data, while illustrating the point very accurately, are nevertheless grim reading. As the Anglo Saxon poem Deor goes:

As for condemning the use of and/or on page 11, I don't agree with the author. It has now become easy English usage. What I think about "small rules" is written here http://www.personal.reading.ac.uk/~spsolley/ca/grammar.htm#Small_Rules : please enjoy it.
